Alumnae

Twenty-nine former students of Crofton House School in Vancouver's West End initiated the Croftonian Old Girls' Association in 1915. Their goal was to maintain school friendships through various activities, and that is still the association's goal today.

The association, now called the Crofton House School Alumnae, has expanded its activities to include running the Uniform Shop (run by Janet Hammond, an alumna), collecting donations and fundraising, and hosting special events throughout the year.

Membership is open to Crofton House School graduates and "Old Girls." The association is run by the president, vice president, past president, treasurer, and secretary. The Head of School and Headmistress Emerita are honorary members. Ex-officio members include the Uniform Shop manager and the Director of Advancement. Four to five meetings take place throughout the year. The Annual General Meeting on the school's birthday in March is always followed by a Renunion Lunch for "alums" living in the Lower Mainland. A Reunion Tea in Victoria and a get-together for young alums are also held annually.

Funds are raised primarily through lifetime memberships of $100 upon graduation and the Uniform Shop. The funds are contributed, in consultation with the Head of School and the Board of Directors, to school bursaries, scholarships, awards programs, and other projects. As well, the school holds an annual golf tournament to raise funds which go towards the Crofton House School Alumnae Bursary Endowment Fund. This fund helps Crofton House families who are in financial need.

The Alumnae is approaching its 90th birthday and welcomes active involvement of its members. Opportunities exist to volunteer at events such as the Bazaar and the Uniform Shop, and to assist with school projects throughout the year. Contributions of information and updates for the Ivy Leaf magazine are encouraged.
