2005 Winner
The recipient of the 2005 CHS Alumnae Achievement Award is Susanna (Garner) Cunningham '61, nominated by her classmate and friend, Lorraine (Hodson) Burns '61. She was presented the award at the School's 107th Birthday Celebrations on March 4, 2005. Susanna has her PhD in Physiology and Biophysics and is currently a professor in the Department of Biobehavioral Nursing & Health Systems at the University of Washington in Seattle. In the words of her nominator:
"Susanna was our Head Boarder. Her classmates loved, admired, and respected her. Susanna handled the honour of prefect and head boarder beautifully. She was "one of us" in our moments of loneliness, homesickness, and frustration as well as our fun, joy, and celebrations.
One of the joys in life is maintaining the friendships we begin in our youth. I have learned that friends with good hearts and integrity in their youth become marvellous adults. They become a part of us. Susanna is that cherished friend to me.
Susanna Cunningham has made a difference in the lives of others personally and professionally. She is an excellent role model and would be an exceptional ambassador for CHS and its students."
The Alumnae Association and Crofton House School would like to thank all the other extremely qualified nominees and their nominators for being a part of the first Alumnae Achievement Award. Nominations are now being accepted for next year's award.
If you know an alumnae or Old Girl who has made a significant difference in the lives of others by showing tremendous leadership or exceptional artistic or athletic accomplishments, please take a few minutes to fill in the nomination form.
