Crofton House Winter Bazaar

Crofton House School and the CHS Parents' Auxiliary are pleased to announce that the Winter Bazaar raised $87,199 for KidSafe, a local charitable organization that provides a nurturing safe haven for vulnerable students during school breaks.

We were thrilled to be able to gather again at our first in-person Winter Bazaar since 2019. While it was decided early on that the event would intentionally be smaller in size, there was more community spirit than ever as our students, families, alumnae and teachers eagerly banded together to plan and execute this treasured tradition.

Close to 2,400 people attended this year’s Winter Bazaar where they enjoyed:

  • Family fun such as carnival games, face painting, photo booth and portrait studios, caricature sketches, a cakewalk, and a crafting station where kids could make their own Crofton stuffie and more.
  • Shopping for a wide variety of candles, soaps, plants, wreaths, jams, pies, Croftie creations, used goods and other amazing finds.
  • Entertainment by Crofton House students.
  • Fabulous food including pizza, pasta, wraps, salads and all sorts of sweets and treats that kept everyone full and delighted!

Reflecting on this year’s tagline #BAZAARISBACK, CHS Winter Bazaar co-chairs, Megan Evans-Baird, Jean Kim, and Joanna Wasel shared their delight with how wonderful it was to be back together again; “this year’s Bazaar was all about community; it was beautiful and meaningful to see the way in which the students, staff, parents and alumnae came together with a renewed sense of excitement and pride to make the event the incredible success that it was”.

The donation will be used to fully operate one KidSafe site this summer where children will be cared for while experiencing enriching programming, educational place-based field trips, fun activities and more. The funding will also ensure that each participant is given a hot breakfast, a nutritious lunch (with extras to take home) and unlimited snacks.

In response to Crofton's Winter Bazaar incredible contribution, Krystyna Niziolek, Interim CEO of KidSafe said, "Crofton House School continues to be an important community supporter, and strong advocate for KidSafe. Ena Harrop's leadership and support alongside the brilliant efforts of Megan, Jean and Joanna as the event co-chairs were truly extraordinary. A sincere thank you to the Crofton House community, parents and students. Your efforts will enable us to continue to open our doors to serve some of Vancouver's most vulnerable children.”

We are grateful to be able to partner with KidSafe. Christina Louey, PA chair shared, “The Bazaar itself was a wonderful success but the accomplishment is even more meaningful because of the positive impact our combined efforts will have on such an important organization and the families they serve. We are truly grateful to all the volunteers for their service and commitment as well as to all of our guests for making the day so special and impactful. We are so thankful that the Bazaar is Back and stronger than ever”.

Since 2017 proceeds of the Winter Bazaar have been donated to the KidSafe Project, a local Vancouver Charity that provides nutrition and essential services and programs to more than 450 vulnerable children and youth annually during school holiday periods.

History of the Bazaar

The Crofton House Winter Bazaar is a cherished tradition, the roots of which go back to the early forties when proceeds raised were donated to the Red Cross and Save the Children Funds, among others.
