Curriculum
Curriculum refers to the official courses taught: Language Arts (reading, writing, speaking, listening, viewing), Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, French, Library and Information Studies, Technology, Fine Arts (music, art, drama), Physical Education, Outdoor and Environmental Education, and Health and Career as prescribed by the BC Ministry of Education. The curriculum reflects the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that students develop for success.
The junior school at Crofton House establishes mastery of basic skills in reading, writing, speaking, and mathematics. Within the classroom, teachers plan challenging and enriched learning experiences in all subject areas. The basic curriculum is expanded to provide opportunities for higher-level thinking, making connections, creative thinking, problem solving, and critical analysis. Basic skills, enriched learning activities, field trips, concerts, visiting experts, and special events, along with the unique combination of teachers and students, create a total educational program for junior school students.
