Technology

The technology program at Crofton House Junior School provides our students with the skills needed to function effectively in a world that continues to change exponentially. Lifelong learning skills such as information literacy, research, communication, problem solving, decision making, and critical thinking are combined with technology and integrated into all aspects of the curriculum.

A cross-grade scope and sequence of skills ensures that students build on and increase their technology skills every year. Students learn to use computers as tools to facilitate and enhance their activities in the classroom and to select the most effective hardware or software for their purpose. Crofton House School provides state-of-the-art computer facilities and equipment to support the development of these critical skills.

Students use computers located in various areas throughout the school, including the library, a fully networked computer lab, and in their classrooms with wireless networked laptops or convertible tablet computers. There are two portable SMART Boards in the Junior school and mounted SMART boards in the grade 3 classrooms. Fixed or portable data projectors and audio systems are available for every classroom.

With the help of the IT Coordinator, the Junior school teachers and students use a variety of media formats and tools to communicate information, create projects, and enrich learning.
