Celebration of Life - Kathy McRae

Former CHS English teacher, Kathy McRae passed away peacefully at the Cottage hospice on Friday, October 27, 2017.

Kathy taught at Crofton House School from March 2009 until her retirement in August 2015. She returned to CHS as a teacher-on-call for the 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 school years.

As the Department Head of Languages and English teacher in the Senior School, Kathy was much loved by faculty, staff and students. She found a way to connect with everyone, always smiling, with a wonderful story to tell.

Kathy was known for her high standards, bringing out the best in those around her. She inspired and supported her students, empowering them to achieve more than they thought possible.

Kathy’s positive attitude, wit and sense of humour were present in all aspects of her life. Our thoughts are with Kathy’s family and friends. She will be deeply missed.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday November 26, 2017 at Bridges Restaurant on Granville Island from 1:00 - 4:00 pm.

News from Elizabeth (Rolfe) Rolfe-Thomas, Past Staff

After 26½ years teaching at Crofton House School, Elizabeth entered the Sisterhood of St. John the Divine in Toronto in April 1997. In January 2015, she was elected as the next Reverend Mother of the Sisterhood and was installed in that position in May 2015. It was definitely not what she was expecting to be doing at the age of 74!
