Inspiration and creative materials are everywhere! And this mixed media class promotes innovative thinking to develop your eye for uncovering traditional and non-traditional materials (from paints and papers to found objects). You have the opportunity to work with personal iconography, creating unique collage or assemblage artworks. Your exploration of materials leads to original 2-D and 3-D pieces that could range from altered photos and shadow box assemblages to collages incorporating layered paints, newsprint, text, found objects, and more.

DescriptionGoh Ballet is proud to present a comprehensive Classical ballet program with free movement, creative dance and jazz.

Students will learn the art of dance by building their creativity, artistic expression, music appreciation, self-confidence, and body awareness. Classes will be conducted by a member of the Goh Ballet Academy faculty with the distinguished Royal Academy of Dance (R.A.D.) certification. During the school year, students will have the opportunity to showcase their achievements and hard work for friends and families. Uniform is included as a part of tuition. Registration for Goh Ballet happens in Term 1 only. No refund for withdrawal accommodated after attending second class (September 28, 2017).

Term 1: Free movement - A combination of modern dance with improv elements taught through a comprehensive ballet syllabus with an emphasis on free movement.

Term 2: Creative dance - Create a story through dance while learning ballet vocabulary.

Term 3: Jazz - Showcase your individual style and originality, learn to interpret steps and move in your own way. Jazz is an energetic and fun art form of unique moves, fancy footwork, big leaps and quick turns.

Students will learn the art of dance by building their creativity, artistic expression, music appreciation, self-confidence, and body awareness. Classes will be conducted by a member of the Goh Ballet Academy faculty with the distinguished Royal Academy of Dance (R.A.D.) certification. During the school year, students will have the opportunity to showcase their achievements and hard work for friends and families. Uniform is included as a part of tuition. Registration for Goh Ballet happens in Term 1 only. No refund for withdrawal accomodated after attending second class (September 27, 2017).

Term 1: Character & international dance - A dance class with elements of ballet vocabulary and an emphasis on rhythm and style. Learn traditional European folk dances, study dance history including costuming and movement style and form related to different countries.

Term 2: Contemporary dance- An expressive form of movement combining elements of modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. This dance class will connect the mind and body as you learn improvisation and floor work.

Term 3: Jazz- Showcase your individual style and originality, learn to interpret steps and move in your own way. Jazz is an energetic and fun art form of unique moves, fancy footwork, big leaps and quick turns.

Please note: there is an additional cost for the Character Skirt and Shoes for $120.00 inclusive of GST. On the first day of classes, the instructor will bring all Program Plus dancers a uniform leotard, tights and ballet slippers and the Grade 2/3/4 girls will also be fit for their character skirt and character shoes.

DescriptionByte Camp is Western Canada's busiest provider of technology programs for kids. This non-profit group focuses on improving creative technology skills in afterschool, summer camp and in-school programs. Since 2003, over 18000 kids have taken part in programs, learning how to make web pages, video games, 3D models, animation, music videos and more. Well trained instructors create challenging courses, designed to improve skills while having fun!

Make your own clay characters come to life, just like Shaun the Sheep! Participants will work with a partner to build their own clay characters, sets and props; develop their own script; shoot their movie scenes; and then learn to edit and add voices and sounds to complete the whole project.

YogaButtons: Playful Imaginations and Active Bodies

DescriptionCarolyn Lundie, owner of YogaButtons Kids Yoga Ltd. has delighted in learning and growing with her students as a public school teacher for the past 15 years in the elementary public school system. As a mother and school teacher, she experienced the benefits of sharing yoga with kids at home and in the educational setting. Carolyn opened YogaButtons Kids Yoga Studio in Kitsilano in September 2012.

Learn to move and stretch your bodies safely while exploring yoga. Students will be introduced to traditional yoga poses, inspired by animals and nature. Yoga poses and breathing exercises are combined to promote relaxation and develop fitness skills. Classes will follow a flowing sequence, specifically promoting balance, concentration, flexibility and strength. Classes aim to give students the tools to take these techniques from the mat to their daily lives. YogaButtons classes will develop your daughter’s mental, physical and emotional wellness, nurturing the skills to live life with ease and develop self-confidence. Each class will begin with an arts and craft activity to promote creativity and relaxation. 

DolphinKIDS: Future-Ready Leaders

DescriptionDolphinPOD: Future-Ready Leaders (founded by Dr. Shimi Kang) utilizes the latest neuro-scientific methods for leadership, innovation, and wellness to help youth better navigate the ever-changing waters of our fast-paced, ultracompetitive, globally diverse, and socially connected modern world. Through our research based activities, students will cultivate the top six critical life-skills that make lasting success E.A.S.I.E.R. -Emotional Wellness, Adaptability, Social Leadership, Innovation, Ethics, and Resiliency. Lessons combine 1) Play via art, technology, and drama, 2) Others (social connection) via teamwork, role play, and public speaking, and 3) Downtime via attention/ focus training, mindfulness, and cultivation of positive mental habits such as grit, gratitude, and optimism. Fees include art materials, gratitude journal, and t-shirt.

Lesson plans and projects change from term to term to ensure that there is no repetition for students.
