Here's how to apply.
CHS is a close-knit community that allows each girl to discover her courage, creativity, and citizenship in a supportive learning environment. Thank you for considering Crofton House for your daughter’s education.
Our major intake years are: Junior Kindergarten (25 spaces), Senior Kindergarten (15 spaces), Grade 6 (20 spaces) and Grade 8 (40 spaces). While applications are accepted for all grades, availability for non-intake years varies and is based on attrition. Interviews and assessments for these grades will only be conducted should there be a confirmed opening. Admissions will contact short-listed families as vacancies arise.
Step 1: Submit an application
- JK/SK: November 15
- Grade 6 or Grade 8: December 1
- Non-intake years: March 1
The application fee is $350.

Financial assistance is available for grade 8 applicants. For more information about financial assistance and fee waivers, please visit the tuition and financial assistance page. The deadline to apply is December 1.
Step 2: Submit supporting documentation
In order to be considered for 2018 admission, all required supporting documentation including SSAT results and report cards (where applicable) must be received no later than Monday, January 8. Our preference is to receive as much as possible prior to your interview. Please note that only the requested documents will be reviewed.
Step 3: Book your family interview
Interviews offer a wonderful opportunity to have a more personal conversation with a member of the Admissions team. These meetings help us get to know your daughter and your family better - they help you get to know CHS better too! Once you have submitted your online application, those applying for an intake year will be contacted by Admissions to book an interview time for your family.
- JK/SK – Parents-only interview (approx. 30 min)
- Grade 6 and Grade 8 – student interview, followed by parent interview (approx. 60 min)
- Non-intake year – invited in for an interview when an opening has been confirmed
Step 4: Write the SSAT and Character Skills Snapshot (Grades 7 to 12 applicants only)
The SSAT is a standardized test used by the Admission office to assess the abilities of students seeking to enroll in an independent school. Students wishing to be considered for grade 8 at CHS must write the SSAT no later than December 23. All other applicants must write the SSAT by March 1.
NEW: Applicants for grades 7 to 12 are also required to take the Character Skills Snapshot. Once you have registered for the SSAT, there is no charge to take The Snapshot. Applicants for grade 8 must have this written by December 23rd.
Step 5: Attend an in-house observation/assessment
All students applying to an intake year are expected to attend in-house observation/assessment (see scheduled dates in FAQs). This helps our teachers get to know your daughter better, in a CHS context. More information will be communicated to all applicants in December. In order to be considered for 2018 admission, your daughter’s attendance is mandatory.
Step 6: Admission decision
All admission decisions will be communicated to families electronically, on the following dates:
- Junior and Senior Kindergarten – Friday, February 1, 2018
- Grade 6 – Friday, March 2, 2018
- Grade 8 – Friday, February 16, 2018 (for those applying for financial assistance, these decisions will be included with offers)
