The CHS Alumnae Association is an active, global network of CHS alumnae who are committed to supporting each other and the School.
2012/13 CHS Alumnae Association Meeting Schedule
Meetings are typically held on the second Tuesday of the month from 6:00 until 7:30 pm in the Allan Boardroom of the Crofton House School Senior School. All alumnae and Old Girls are welcome.

Meet the Executive
President
Christine (Wong) Applegarth '92
After life at Crofton House School, Christine went on to pursue medicine at the University of British Columbia. She completed her residency in Family Medicine and now has a busy practice on the Westside with a focus on women’s health and sports medicine. Christine’s family includes husband Oliver, an anesthesiologist at VGH, and children Kaitlyn (Katie) in grade three at CHS and Justin in grade one at Saint George’s School. Christine enjoys time away at her cabin on the Gulf Islands, and participates in various activities including swimming, biking, and ice hockey.
Vice President
Cathy (Fraser) Hunt '81
Cathy (Fraser) Hunt graduated from Crofton in 1981. She has a daughter attending Crofton in Grade 10. Cathy has worked at CBC Vancouver for the past 25 years in a variety of different roles in public relations, project management and production. Cathy is currently the CBC Revenue and Community Engagement Manager, busy booking the CBC studios to outside TV/Film productions and for corporate events to generate revenue that goes back into local programming.

Celia Dawson '83
Celia oversees the interior design for all of Polygon's sales offices, display homes, lobbies and clubhouses, as well as advising on interior specifications and space planning. A Queen's University art history graduate who also graduated from the Inchbald School of Design in London, England, Celia joined Polygon in 1998 after 10 years of residential design experience. As a supporter of the arts and children’s education, she volunteers her time with Arts Umbrella, The Crofton House Task Force committee and the Crofton House Alumnae Association. Outside the office, Celia enjoys spending time with her two daughters and participates in a variety of activities including skiing, running and tennis.
Secretary
Gillian (Will) Reynolds '90
Gillian is a Registered Psychologist and works as a school psychologist for a local school district and has a private practice. After completing her undergraduate degrees at the University of Western Ontario and the University of British Columbia, Gillian worked as an elementary school teacher with students with learning disabilities. She then completed her Ph.D. in School Psychology at Columbia University in New York. Gillian is the mother of three young children, with her two daughters attending Crofton. In her spare time, Gillian enjoys skiing and is a school psychologist for a local school district, and also has a small private practice. Gillian is the mother of three young children and in her spare time enjoys cooking and gardening.
Treasurer
Karen Fryer '85
Karen graduated from Crofton House in 1985 and went on to earn her BSC in Genetics from UBC followed by a Diploma in Accounting from the Sauder School of Business. She worked in Radiation Biology connected to cancer research for 15 years. Karen’s now working for SFU combining research and accounting fields. Karen’s been a CHS parent since 2006 and a member of the CHS Alumnae Association since 2010.

Uniform Shop
Janet (Oppenheimer) Hammond '67
Raised in a family of Croftonian sisters, Janet followed the family tradition and graduated as a “lifer” in 1967. She then attended UBC and obtained a BA degree in Fine Arts….. She married Ernie Hammond and had three children. Janet spent much of her time volunteering for different school activities. She served as President of the Alumnae Association when her daughter Heidi (1993) attended Crofton. The year of the school’s 100th birthday, Janet provided valuable input into the Alumnae’s gift of a framed historical photography collection.
Janet is in her thirteenth year of running the CHS uniform shop. She is involved with the design, manufacturing, and selling of the uniforms. The success of the uniform shop allows the Alumnae Association to use the proceeds to support school endeavours. When not at the uniform shop, Janet fills her days by spending time with her husband, children, six grandchildren and her dog, Lucy. She is very active with golf, biking, playing bridge, dog walking and travel.
