Parents' Auxiliary
The Parents' Auxiliary Association has evolved over many years, from the Bazaar Committee (1973), the Parents' Committee (1983), and the Parents' Liaison Committee (1991). The Parents' Auxiliary Association was created as a subcommittee of the school's Board of Governors as a result of the need for parents to be more actively involved in the life of the school. Its founding meeting was held on Thursday, October 21, 1993.
The Parents' Auxiliary is a vital and active part of the Crofton House community. The purposes of the association are as follows:
- to initiate and/or participate in fund raising activities for the school (the major example being the annual Winter Bazaar)
- to initiate and/or participate in social, "friend-raising" activities for the school (examples include the Welcome Back Barbecue, the Father-Daughter Bingo Night, and the annual Staff/Teacher Appreciation Lunch)
- to promote opportunities for parents to supportively and co-operatively contribute to the school (the primary example is the Parent Volunteer Program, which allows parents to be involved in many aspects of life at the school)
All parents with children at Crofton House School are members of the Parents' Auxiliary Association. The Parents' Auxiliary Board of Directors consists of nine parents, elected by the parent body at the Association's Annual General Meeting. From these persons, a Chair, Vice-Chair, Treasurer, and Secretary are elected. The chair is automatically appointed to the school's Board of Governors for his or her term in office. In addition, Parents' Auxiliary Board of Directors meetings are attended by an alumnae representative and members of the school's staff or administration, including the Head of School, the Director of the Junior School, and the Director of the Senior School.
The Parents' Auxiliary Board of Directors meets approximately once a month during the school year. The meetings are lively and enjoyable, in keeping with the spirit of the association. The minutes from these meetings and other relevant information about the association and its activities can be found on the Parents' Auxiliary notice board near the main entrance to the Junior School. You are encouraged to come out and support your Auxiliary Association, either through membership on its Board of Directors, or through the many opportunities that exist to contribute to the life of our school.
