Crofton House School Libraries

Fostering a lifelong love of reading and learning

The Junior and Senior School libraries allow students to explore their love of reading, receive support as they complete research, or simply find a quiet place to read, work or relax.

The Sherman Jen
Learning Commons

The Junior School library provides a warm and inviting environment where students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 7 are invited to pursue their inquiries and their love for reading. Our library houses a rich and dynamic collection of fiction, non-fiction, magazines, ebooks and digital resources.

Students enjoy regular book exchange classes, during which our teacher-librarians strive to cultivate joy in reading by introducing a diverse selection of current literature. We work hard to know our girls as readers and to match students with the right pleasure reading books.

The library supports the curriculum through our print and digital research materials, and teacher-librarians work in collaboration with teachers to ensure development of comprehensive research skills.

Students are welcome to enjoy the library space during lunch break and may check out books throughout our opening hours from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Senior School

The Wade Family Library

The Senior School library is a bustling, engaging environment. On any given day, classes can be found researching a variety of topics – from the French Revolution, human genomes, film history and everything in between. Grade-appropriate research and citation instruction is available to give our students the skills for success.

Our library houses fiction, non-fiction, graphic novels, reference and DVDs, as well as streaming video and research databases. We also hold a selection of rare books from the original reading room at Crofton House. Girls are invited to enjoy comfortable couches and tables, and a variety of puzzles, board games, artistic activities and exciting programming while in the library. Grand ceilings, a fireplace and a proud gallery of student work make this library unique and memorable. The collections are lovingly selected through academic partnerships and input from our audience.

We strive to foster a lifelong love of reading and learning, and aspire to exceptional library service in an ever-changing, digital information age. Library hours are 7:30 am to 5:00 pm daily, with knowledgeable library staff ready to field any inquiry.
