The Senior School Social Responsibility Club spearheaded Orange Shirt Day on Monday, September 30. At the Senior School assembly, the two club captains Paula and Rebecca (left), presented a documentary they made in collaboration with Acwsalcta School, an independent Nuxalk First Nations school in Bella Coola. Later Grade 12 students Paula and Hailey (right) spoke to Grade 6 students on the meaning of the day. Orange Shirt Day began in 2013 to honor and remember residential school survivors and their families. "It’s something really important that we don't commemorate or acknowledge enough,” said Paula.
