Supporting Our Community Partners
Crofton House School and the CHS Parents' Auxiliary are pleased to celebrate the 2025 Winter Bazaar, with proceeds going to support our community partners: Backpack Buddies and the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre. These two organizations make a profound difference in our city and province. Backpack Buddies provides weekend meals to nearly 7,000 BC children facing food insecurity, while the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre offers safety, support, and essential resources to women in Vancouver. Both organizations collaborate with CHS students and teachers to explore the root causes of local issues, fostering understanding, empathy, and responsibility—principles of learning and community building.
The Bazaar is a cherished annual tradition dating back to 1944, when students led the first Bazaar to support the Junior Red Cross war efforts. Today, it remains a unique opportunity to collaborate and contribute to a community-building event. This year was no exception with:

Reflecting on this year’s Bazaar, 2025 co-chairs Heather Brunt, Frances Chen & Shelly Chen said, “The Winter Bazaar is a very special event in which two organizations are lifted up by the care, time, effort and skills of our school community. It is a gift of philanthropy in which we all work together, and the results are stunning in so many ways. It was a pleasure and honour to be a part of the team!”
The Crofton House community raised $75,847 through the Winter Bazaar, which will contribute to programming at both Backpack Buddies and the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre.
The School and the CHS Parents' Auxiliary are grateful to the Bazaar’s executive team, including Yuanyuan Chen, Gurmeet Kaur, Eric Ren, Dan Su, Stephen Xu, Angela Yung, Momo Zhang, Shuo Han Yan Zhang and Emily Zhong, and all the volunteers, for their service and commitment, and to all those who attended.
Together, the School and the Parents' Auxiliary look forward to next year and to continuing to support our community partners!
"Thank you, Crofton House, for your compassionate partnership with Backpack Buddies. With nearly 1 in 3 kids—288,000 BC children—facing food insecurity, your support is significant. Your gift will feed 35 children with meals and snacks every weekend for an entire school year. This means that students can come to school on Mondays with full bellies and ready to learn."
– Melodie Malinder, Backpack Buddies

“The Centre is deeply grateful for the continued support from Crofton House. The Winter Bazaar is a powerful example of what a community can accomplish when people come together with generosity and care. Together, we have the power to create meaningful change.”
– Alice Kendall, Executive Director with the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre
