Head Succession: Strong interest and candidates as the global search progresses
On February 23, the Head Succession Task Force sat down with Perrett Laver, our recruitment consultants, to go through the applications that we have received. We were pleased to see strong Canadian and international applicants who view Dr. Dawson’s legacy and all that CHS is today as an exciting launch pad for the next stage of their careers. Our diversity, our city and our country are, quite rightly, a draw for many.
We have whittled down the applicant pool using the criteria that came out of our community-wide consultation. You asked us to look for: a passion for teaching and for all girls’ education, as well as executive skills; relevant experience, as well as flair and vision; and the curiosity to see over the horizon, as well as deal effectively with the here and now. Our consultants will now interview each of these applicants.
On April 6, we will identify the short list of candidates with whom the Task Force will meet. We hope that the Board will be in the position to decide upon the successful candidate before the end of the school year. As you know, Dr. Dawson will remain in her position until a year later – summer 2019. That allows the new head to give appropriate notice and gives all of us a year to transition. Far from slowing down, I have never seen Dr. Dawson more engaged and busy creating positive change at our school.
