Girls at Crofton House can take advantage of over 60 clubs and co-curricular activities in the Junior and Senior Schools that encourage curiosity and discovery. From Debate to Choir to Robotics, we have something for everyone’s interests and strengths. In the Senior School, girls can broaden their global perspective by joining a service trip or participating in our Global Exchange Program.

Express

Debate is offered in both Junior and Senior Schools, allowing girls to continue to develop their public speaking, debate and persuasion skills from Grade 5 onward. Opportunities to participate in debate competitions are available
Grade 1-7 girls have the opportunity to express themselves through song in the Primary and Immediate Concert Choirs
Girls in Grade 6 and 7 can join the annual Middle School musical or theatre production

Clubs & Activities

Below is sampling of the clubs and activities offered to girls in the Senior School.

Learn

Senior School girls learn science, technology, engineering and math concepts and apply them to real-life projects in our STEM Club
Tech Crew provides the behind-the-scenes support for many school activities, including setting up the audiovisual and lighting for Senior School assemblies and productions
Robotics gives Senior School girls the opportunity to plan, create and test robots that will compete in local Vex Robotics tournaments

Collaborate

Senior School girls serve as representatives of Crofton House School to current and prospective students and families, and develop their confidence and skills in public relations, communication and leadership in the Ambassadors Program
Senior School girls provide support to Junior School students over the year through Junior Peer Tutoring
GSA (Gender and Sexuality Awareness) provides a safe space for Senior School girls to work together to help make CHS more welcoming for all

Lead and Serve

Model United Nations allows Senior School students to research global political, social, environmental and economic issues while learning UN rules and procedures. Working with a coach helps build debate skills, quick response times, and consensus
The Social Responsibility Club in the Senior School works on local, global and sustainable initiatives
Senior School girls increase their knowledge of the business world, develop entrepreneurial skills and activities through the Business Club

Express

Debate is in the Senior Schools, allowing girls to develop their public speaking, debate and persuasion skills. Opportunities to participate in debate competitions are available
From Grade 8-12, girls have the opportunity to express themselves through song in the Concert Choir
Senior School girls can get on stage as part of Stage Band, House Plays, Drama Club, the annual Senior School musical or theatre production, or Grade 8–9 theatre production
Creative Writing welcomes any Senior School student who loves words, writing and reading. The group works together to provide feedback and encourage each to improve their writing skills

Global Programs

Crofton House School offers many global programs designed to expose students to new perspectives, places and cultures. Through carefully selected partnerships with local community organizations, girls serve others and learn that they can play an important role in contributing to the larger community. These fun, challenging, transformative experiences help expand girls’ horizons and develop valuable leadership skills.

Major Trips

Each Spring Break vacation, girls are offered the opportunity to participate in a 10- to 14-day international service-related trip. Students travel with teacher chaperones and complete several hours of service-related activities in a local community. The trips also provide opportunities for students to develop leadership skills, expand their world view and engage in cultural activities.

Global Exchanges

Our Global Exchange Program is an exciting opportunity for girls to experience the culture and education of another country. Through the experiences of travelling to attend a new school and staying with a host family, girls build important life skills, including independence, decision-making, social adaptability, resilience and courage. We currently offer six-week exchanges with partner schools in New Zealand or Australia:

Journalism History: Crofton Chronicle

The Crofton Chronicle news team took a trip down journalism memory lane and perused archival copies of the Chronicle. As part of research for an article, they hosted an interview with the School's archivist to learn more about CHS history and how the archives maintains these historical documents.

Debate Club Excels at The International Independent Schools' Public Speaking Competition

Grade 10-12 students, usually members of the Debate Club, put their names forward for a rigorous selection process to have a spot at the International Independent Schools' Public Speaking Competition. In the 2023-2024 school year, Vanessa, Grade 10, Lucy, Grade 11, and Michelle, Grade 12, were the three students to represented Crofton House at IISPSC.
